FEBRUARY 19, 2013- After hours of searching for a place to stay for the night, we land at a daytime shelter, the Upper Room... still unsure as to where we will sleep.

The Upper Room is a place where the homeless and those in transitional housing hang out, and more importantly it's a place to stay warm.

We met a 17-year-old woman named Catherine who says she was once homeless.

She claims she tried to seek shelter, but her luck was short.

She blames the county for a lack of bed space, eventually falling into a state of depression...

Catherine eventually got off the streets and moved in with a friend.

But Kevin Womble Sr says she is one of the few who has made it.

Following our interview we were encountered by a homeless man known as "Flip Flop" he was unhappy with our cameras filming in the upper room.

Kevin Womble Sr says Mental Health is an issue that intimidates and worries people.

Eventually we left the Upper Room.

We would land at the Mental Health Association, a warming center, where you could stay from 11 p.m. til 7 a.m.

It was peaceful, quiet and serene from this point on I was on my own over night.

Before we knew it, it was time to wake up, my journey would end.

But it wouldn't end for the more than 1 thousand on the streets.

Mental Health Officials are working on changing legislation in ErieCounty, fighting for more bed space and heading to Harrisburg to develop programs for those with criminal pasts.
