The Erie Otters have announced that rookie center Connor McDavid has been selected to represent the Ontario Hockey League at the 2012 SUBWAY Super Series Thursday, November 8 against Team Russia in Guelph, Ontario.

Born on January 13, 1997, McDavid will be the youngest player ever to play in the SUBWAY Super Series, which helps determine Team Canada's roster at the World Junior Championships. Team OHL is a perfect 18-0 in the event, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.

The third player to receive exceptional player status by Hockey Canada for early entry into the OHL, McDavid has had a strong start in his first OHL season. The rookie has a league leading 14-game point-scoring streak, leading all OHL rookies with 18 points (7g, 11a).

McDavid will be the second player from the Otters in the SUBWAY Super Series, as defenseman Adam Pelech will be playing in the game at Sarnia that will take place Monday, November 12.

The selection of McDavid comes shortly after the phenom received considerable attention for his goal from Saturday's loss against the Sarnia Sting, in which McDavid deked out Phoenix Coyotes first round pick Connor Murphy and San Jose Sharks prospect J.P. Anderson for a spectacular goal. The goal made ESPN's Top 10 Plays and was TSN's Highlight of the Night.

The Otters host the Owen Sound Attack in back-to-back games at Erie Insurance Arena Friday and Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. For tickets, call 814-452-4857 or go to OttersHockey.com.
