Villa Maria senior forward Karlee McBride made a decision in September of 2011 regarding her college future. More than a year later and with some time to think about it, McBride has changed her mind. She has given a verbal commitment to play at Division I Indiana University in Bloomington beginning in the fall of 2013. McBride had originally announced she was going to play at Bowling Green.
"Choosing Indiana had much to do with my relationship and belief in Coach Miller (who recruited her to Bowling Green before taking the job at Indiana) and his staff," McBride said. "I was able to make two visits to campus, met with the players and coaches and I really believe in their vision for Indiana basketball and I feel privileged to have an opportunity to play in the Big 10."
"Indiana is getting a great competitor and winner in Karlee McBride," said Villa head basketball coach Doug Chuzie. "Karlee is a versatile player that excels both on the perimeter and in the post. She is a tough match-up for defenses and is also a legitimate 3-point threat every time she catches the ball on the perimeter."
Currently rated nationally by ESPN, McBride is set to begin her fourth season on the varsity squad at Villa Maria. She averaged 14 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists last season, when she was tabbed 2nd Team All-State (she made 3rd Team as a sophomore). McBride also only needs 23 points this season to top 1,000 for her career.
