January 18, 2013 - November election day will be here before we know it.

Many candidates aren't wasting time announcing that they want a seat on Erie City Council.

Several council members have terms expiring at the end of the year, including John Evans, Dave Brennan, Curtis Jones Jr. and Jim Winarski.

Evans and Brennan announced they will run for re-election come November.

A new comer and Sharon native, Selena King, has also announced she will work to get elected to council.

"We do have a large population of young professionals here in Erie who want to stay in the area but cannot because for the lack of jobs," King said. "So we want to be able to create jobs that keep the economy moving and keeps our residents in the city."

"In city government and county government, I think the relationships are definitely there," Brennan said. "I've been working hard to develop that with citizens and neighborhood groups and I want to continue to be able to work with them."

"The city has a lot of key strategic structural financial challenges ahead of it, as a lot of municipalities do," Evans said. "So I think that's going to be my focus is to provide that leadership."

Both Winarski and Jones are also expected to run for re-election.
