After Erie County Prison Warden James Veschecco announced his retirement...officials are now trying to find new leadership... But there's been a problem regarding the current salary.

Erie County Executive Barry Grossman tells us the Merit Selection Committee is in charge of hiring a new warden and deputy warden...

He says the committee came back to him with twenty potential candidates... None of which wanted to even interview for the positions because of the starting point of $43,000/yr

Grossman tells us Erie is the lowest of third class counties in the state in paying warden salaries...

Grossman already asked council to raise the salary to $75,000/yr to recruit outside candidates.

Raising the salary up $32,000.oo in one jump?? A bit TOO much I think! Can you not persuade Prison Warden James Veschecco to reconsider if you give HIM a higher salary instead, don't you think HE would be the one to get more money for the time he's spent there?
