Students’ commitment to end Domestic Violence a penny at a time
Who: In partnership with JET TV and SafeNet, elementary, middle and high schools within the Regional School Districts are invited to compete in a change drive to support SafeNet
What: The change drive will encourage participants to donate and collect spare change to help school aged children become aware of domestic violence and its effects, and help support victims When: Monthly competitions throughout the 2009-2010 school year
Why: SafeNet is committed to ending domestic violence, affirming human dignity and delivering comprehensive direct services to all victims of domestic violence. SafeNet provides sanctuary, support, education, advocacy and promotes changes in legislation and social polices. We believe every individual has the right to be respected and live a life free from abuse
Hands aren’t for hitting; they’re for helping. And kids can make a difference.
Change for Change is a chance for kids to help other kids who have experienced violence in their home. All proceeds benefit the Children’s program at SafeNet.
Whole classrooms can team together to compete for tickets to sporting events, theme parks, special celebrity classroom visits and more, all while helping kids just like themselves who are going through a tough time.
Hold a change drive, bake sale or penny carnival – it’s up to you how to raise the money, and you can do it all school-year long. Prizes will be awarded every month for the class with the highest amount raised per student, with a grand prize awarded at the end of the year.

In order to participate, teachers must register on YourErie.com. They will be given a log-in and password for a page where they can post their monthly fundraising totals. Money must be deposited by the last calendar day of the month to be considered for that month’s prize.
To give each class equal opportunity to win, the total amount of each class’ donation will be divided by the number of students in that class. Classes can participate for as many months as they would like, and are eligible to win each month that they participate.
Deposits can be made at any Northwest Savings Bank branch office in the Change for Change account. A copy of your deposit slip must be sent to SafeNet to confirm your class’ contribution.
