WJET and WFXP-TV 's News Director Lou Baxter, is one of the original members of the Action News 24 team. Lou joined JET-TV in 1980 after several years as a local radio reporter.Lou was born in Oil City, Pa. and raised in Erie. He graduated from Academy High School and Edinboro University. Lou's broadcasting career began at WWYN radio in Erie. He was a 17-year old high school senior when he was hired at the news-talk radio station to present the popular "Pepsi Car Reports." He later hosted a weekend talk show and eventually began his career in broadcast news. During college, Lou worked at the Edinboro studios of WQLN-FM, was editor of the Edinboro University newspaper "The Spectator", and eventually interned at the Erie Morning News. Upon graduation he returned to broadcasting at WRIE radio. Over his 35 year broadcasting career, Lou has enjoyed reporting from the White House and Capitol Hill, interviewing presidents and celebrities. He has also reported from Hawaii on the 50th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. After serving as the first anchorman of Action News AM and the weekend edition of Action News , Lou was named News Director in 2004, his 24th year at Action News 24.
