Craig Smylie joined the JET-TV and FOX 66 staff in August 2007 as the weekend sports anchor and weekday sports reporter.
A native of Solon, Ohio, a suburb on Cleveland's southeast side, Craig graduated from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University with a major in broadcast journalism and a minor in psychology. He comes to Erie after a three year stint in Lima, Ohio, where he did everything except mop the floors.
Most recently, Craig worked as sports director for WOHL-TV in Lima. The Associated Press honored his department with an Outstanding Sports Operation award in 2005. Craig has covered Ohio State football and basketball as well as several state championship high school sports teams.
He married his wife Vanessa in September 2007 and is proud to call Erie home. In his lack of spare time, Craig enjoys singing, playing piano, watching the Browns and Buckeyes and catching a movie. If you have a story idea or just want to say hi, email Craig at CSmylie@wjettv.com
