Reported by: Craig Layne Thursday, Mar 12, 2009 @11:40am EDT About 75 per cent of new moms will experience some type of "baby blues." That's why more than 100 women got together Thursday to talk about postpartum depression.
The Maternal and Child Health Task Force of Erie County held a postpartum depression resource symposium at Gannon University in downtown Erie. The goal of the event was to raise awareness about postpartum depression and the treatment options available to women with the disorder. "It's nothing to be terrified about," Janet Newcamp, a nursing professor at Edinboro University, says. "There are options that women can have. They can be healed and they can feel better." Several different local health organizations were on hand at the event to offer their services. |
