Next weekend will be a special one for Presque Isle State Park as the annual Discover Presque Isle weekend kicks off.

Presque Isle State Park offers so much to us in Erie and this time every year for the last 15 years, the community has gathered to give back... in the form of the Discover Presque Isle weekend.

It’s the park's largest fund raiser, and this year promises to be no different with a huge festival atmosphere and something for everyone. There will be live music, educational exhibits and of course a lot of activities.

Organizer Cory Merryman says, “We have the mile swim and the Erie Times Duathalon and we also have Discover Archery and really cool things for your whole family to enjoy. “

Including the chance to see some animals you might not normally find on the park.

“Blended Spear Ranch is bringing their horses down here so the public can enjoy them; they're therapeutic horses,” says organizer Abby Ashton.

Also new is the chance to win some cold hard cash just for wearing a little frog button.

Ashton says, “Something exciting this year, we're going to do a mystery button and someone's going to be walking away with $1,000 actually; they'll all be numbered and we'll pick one lucky number and if you have that number, you'll walk away with $1,000.”

It all shapes up for the perfect way to spend the weekend on some of the most beautiful scenery you'll find anywhere.
