Reported by: Jeremy Beecher Monday, Oct 5, 2009 @06:17pm EDT The Erie General Electric Federal Credit Union is rolling out several new programs to help members who are among the 1500 workers laid off from the company's Lawrence Park plant.
Some are reserved for members, such as free consultations with financial advisers; the credit union is also working with members one-on-one to restructure loans as needed to keep them from going into the red. Other services are being made available to the public as a whole. Those include a seminar on job-hunting -- with an emphasis on interviewing skills and resume polishing -- and a website, soon to be launched, called LaidOffInErie.com, which they hope will become a one-stop shop for advice as well as listings from local employers.
