Reported by: Sky Chernauskas Monday, Oct 26, 2009 @04:50pm EDT Mark Fleisher drove 100 miles just to get rid of prescription drugs.
His wife recently passed away after being sick for three years. He had all her medications around the house, and he wanted to dispose of them, but he knew he couldn't flush them down the toilet. If drugs are flushed, they can get into water streams, causing harm to fish and wildlife. Once the medications are collected, they are then disposed of properly. Environmental Engineer Gary Maslanka says, "They'll take it to an incinerator in Niagara Falls, that is a high temperature incinerator with all the pollution controls necessary and will be destroyed there when officer witnesses it." |
