     Beloved Husband, Father, & Grandfather

    Charles H. Martin,
    age 86, of Millcreek Twp., died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Erie on June 12, 1923, the son of the late, Henry G. and Minnie L. Genck Martin. He was a life-long Erie resident. He graduated from Academy High School and served in the US Army during World War II, earning two bronze stars. He was employed at GTE for 41 years until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of Sons of Lake Erie and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he served on church council for a number of years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and known for his fish fries.

    He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elaine Talbert Martin, three sons: Dr. David C. Martin (Barbara) of St. Paul ,Minn., John E. “Jack” Martin (Karen) of Millcreek Twp, Robert J. “Bob” Martin of Fairview Twp., three grandsons who he adored, Michael C. Martin (Mandy) of St. Paul, Minn., Alexander “Alex” J. Martin (Rachelle) of Millcreek Twp., Andrew C. Martin of Pittsburgh, and one great- granddaughter, Sylvia Joanne Martin, of St. Paul, Minn.

    Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Sunday, November 1, 2009 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Monday for the funeral service conducted by the Revs. David McIlfried and Scott Mitchell at 10:00 a.m. Interment with military honors at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3108 Sterrettania Rd., Erie, PA 16506.
