Reported by: Sky Chernauskas Wednesday, Nov 4, 2009 @04:06pm EST Some of Millcreek’s littlest students showed off some big artistic talent today.
Elementary students at Villa Maria Elementary invited parents and officials from the Middle States Team to see what they've learned in school by combining lessons with art. Today the students wrote a musical based on what they've learned in history class. It’s part of the schools “artist of the month” program. Damon Finazza of Villa Maria Elementary says, "It's awesome to see the kids owning their learning. And I think that's where the excitement comes from. They get to not just gain the knowledge, but then they get to teach others the knowledge they've gained." This is the first year for the “artist of the month” program. The school's principal tells us the kids are more confident in their classes since the program began. |
