Reported by: Chris Cerenelli Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @09:41pm EST Several experts on wind generated and green energy discussed that and other issues surrounding the topic at Penn State Behrend Thursday night. The panel agreed that our proximity to Lake Erie makes us a prime locale for developing the technology. But the idea is not without its critics; Laura Jackson of Save Our Allegheny Ridges says there has to be consideration for wildlife and their habitats as well as accounting for the short and long term effects building power sources can have. But Tim Vought, a developer for a wind energy power company in Chicago says plenty of oversight exists. Kate Feeney of the Pennsylvania Clean Air Council agrees and says as the practice of implementing wind power grows and is polished, better regulations will follow.
