Reported by: David Belmondo Thursday, Nov 19, 2009 @12:17pm EST A couple hundred Gannon University students, faculty and staff have moved to temporary housing. Cardboard boxes.
The makeshift box city, set up on campus, is all part of Homeless Awareness Week and Gannon's International Education Week. Several clubs and organizations sponsored boxes that the students decorated with facts about homelessness. They will each spend a couple hours in the boxes to get a feel of what it's like to be homeless. The students were also asking for any loose change from people passing by. Money the students collect will be given to Emmaus Ministries, The International Institute, 2nd Harvest Food Bank and the Sisters of Saint Joseph's Thanksgiving Fund. |
