The Statute of Limitations differs from State to State and from case to case, but generally it is a deadline by which you must either settle your claim or file a lawsuit. Failure to do one of these things by the expiration of the Statute of Limitations may result in the forfeiture of your right to make a recovery. In Pennsylvania, the general rule in personal injury cases (auto accidents, slip and falls, dog bites and/or product liability claims) is that you have a two-year Statute of Limitations. That means that you have a two-year period from the date your accident happened to either settle your claim or to file a lawsuit with the appropriate Court in order to keep your claim alive. In some cases, the Statute may run longer than two years. Obviously, this date is an important one and documenting your Statute of Limitations is another reason why you should consult with The Purchase Firm. |
