Should you be unfortunate enough to be involved in a car accident, be sure to call the police. The police are trained and experienced to get the facts of the accident and to restore order at the scene. They will also contact an ambulance for your medical support and will take responsibility for removing to vehicles from the site.
When all the vehicles involved in an accident are drivable and no one appears to be hurt, some police departments will refuse to come to an accident scene. If this should ever happen to you, it is extremely important that you get the names, addresses and telephone numbers of all people who witnessed the accident along with all contact information, plate number, insurance name, and policy number of the other driver or drivers involved in your accident. If the police will not come to investigate the accident scene, then you must remember to do the best you can, yourself. |
