Ways to Make a Difference to Our Troops
-
Write letters to service people overseas. Getting a letter from back home helps raise the morale of military members who are far away. Thank them for the willingness to fight for freedom and let them know how proud you are that they represent the best in our country. Make a special point of writing to wounded service members, to encourage them to get better and let them know you are praying for them.

-
Send care packages. Care packages include such items as toothpaste, a tooth brush, eye wash, baby wipes, foot powder, a comb, disposable razors, mouthwash, unscented insect repellent, tissues, chewing gum, beef jerky, cotton swabs, and AA batteries. You can do this at any of the Manors.

-
Collect DVDs, CDs, books, puzzles and games to send to troops overseas. These can provide a means of occasional amusement and entertainment for them when there is a lull in activity. Some of the items like this you've had sitting around in your attic or garage could be put to use this way.
-
Help their families, who are also going through challenging times, due to a loved one being deployed. Make it your personal project to "adopt" a military family and invite them to your home or to your place of worship, visit or call them regularly, volunteer to baby sit, help clean a house or whatever else can be done to encourage the family.
