The
Erie City Mission officials say excitement is building as the finishing touches are underway inside the building.
The 18,000 square foot building will have 106 beds, 28 more beds than the current building.
The first floor of the building will have 56 beds for the Samaritan Care Homeless Shelter Program.
There will be 50 beds on the second floor for the new life program.
In the basement there will be a laundry room, recreation center and a learning center.
"It's going to be such a huge improvement over what we have currently," said Pastor Rick Crocker, ECM executive director. "Energy efficient, comfortable, welcoming and we'll be able to expand our services to many people who use our shelter services."
