Direct Shipment Bill Withers On The Vine

10/31/12 It looks like another year of disappointment for wine connoisseurs.
Harrisburg lawmakers once again failed to pass legislation that would have allowed wine lovers to to get direct shipments of vino to their homes.
The Direct Shipment bill was part of the privatization bill that would have allowed Pennsylvania liquor stores to be sold to private entities.
Since that bill went no where, the Direct Shipment bill withered on the vine as well.
But thanks to an injunction filed against the Liquor Control Board by the Pennsylvania Wine Industry nearly 7 years ago, some shipment of wine through the mails is allowed, but if the direct shipment bill is passed, the wine industry could collect much needed revenue. That revenue would come from license fees and excise tax.

WOW, I am surprised at this not passing, almost ALL other states have this already, this might keep PA. down from people living here, I know, crazy huh? But these kinds of things keep PA. in the past instead of the future, and no, we don't drink, so this wouldn't affect us, but I think people SHOULD be able to do as they like, as long as it's legal...maybe Harrisburg lawmakers better take a better look at this the NEXT time it comes in front of them...
