The Star Telegram out of Fort Worth, Texas reported on Friday that by the end of December... GE will be hiring 300 people to gear them up to produce locomotives by January.

The Star Telegram in Texas reports... GE's newest plant in Fort Worth Texas hopes to have their locomotive plant up and running...building and constructing locomotives by the New Year...

According to the site, Walter Amaya, the project leader for GE manufacturing solutions explains:

"We should begin cutting metal, bending metal at the beginning of January.. We hope the first new locomotive will roll out of the plant by January 31st."

The article goes on saying that by the end of December... GE will be preparing to hire at least 300 more staff members to begin working on its evolution diesel electric locomotives.

But here in Erie, back in August...GE unveiled their latest freight locomotive innovation, the first tier four locomotive keeping the company ahead of the game.

We're told that this locomotive drives the economy over 5,000 jobs here in Erie... sustaining jobs.

Now, all of this coming off the heels of GE's announcement to move their global headquarters from Erie to Chicago, taking with it 50 employees...

Is the news of yet another investment outside of Erie worrisome?

    The Star Telegram reports:

"There's already 100 people working at the GE in Fort Worth...and we've already gotten 12,000 applications through the company's online site."

The site says that they hope to employ more than 400 people at the locomotive plant in Fort Worth...

We tried getting in contact with officials at GE... And heard no response...

The Fort Worth plant has been up for about a year and half... Costing nearly $100 million.

Good for GE, they have done a LOT of good things here in Erie for the Erie people!! It IS just like other business' who have OTHER offices etc. in other States, You ?SHOULD be VERY thankful that it decided to INVEST in America, and NOT go to other countries for it's investments...There are people all over the U.S.A. that can use jobs, don't try to make GE feel bad just because ALL of it's investments aren't in Erie, a BIG part STILL is in Erie!! Good Luck GE!!
