When soldiers come home from war... It's not only the physical injuries their families have to help them overcome... It's the mental issues that are just as frightening...

The amount of soldiers that take their own lives everyday is chilling... 18 military personnel everyday...

Even though the wounds are invisible... The symptoms are very real... Doctor Susan Evans tells us, if you don't seek help.. The disorder has the ability to kill you.

Post traumatic stress disorder is an intense reaction to trauma... Doctor Brian Stark wants families who have a loved one suffering from PTSD that empathy and acceptance are key to that person recovering.

Dr Stark says most people that come back from war feel like they are not accepted back into the community; it has the potential to ruin someone's life.

But it's something that you can get over if properly treated.

Experiencing recurrent thoughts is one thing but when PTSD causes physical reaction at that point it's a medical condition... People with PTSD are ashamed of it... And are sometimes looked down upon, but this condition is real, and it's a problem.

People with PTSD will start to develop an avoiding-type of behavior and shy away from anything that triggers a flashback... That's the point that a family member should step in before things progressively get worse.
