The McBride Viaduct Bridge may have been closed for three years, but local citizens are speaking out and hoping to get action.
The purpose the McBride Viaduct Project is to provide a safe efficient and feasible access to the east side. More than 25 people came to the meeting tonight to lay out the plans for this bridge project. Pittsburgh based LR Kimball laid out the options for the bridge project.
These options include rehabilitation, total replacement or finally demolition with traffic improvements at an intersection of the Bayfront Connector at either Buffalo Road or East 20th. The bridge was said to be unsafe and structurally deficient.
Officials are hoping one of these changes will alleviate the major issues with traffic delays and pedestrian traffic.
This is phase 3 of the four phase project.
Officials are hoping to determine a plan by summer of 2013.
