DECEMBER 30, 2012- Well, we are all guilty of it...

We make that New Year's resolution and then a month or two in...

    We break!

Fitness experts say if you want to fight the fat and get fit... You need to stick to a fitness plan.

With 2013 fast approaching, and the start of the New Year looking bright, everyone is hoping to accomplish new goals and better themselves...

According to the University Of Scranton Journal Of Clinical Psychology, the number one resolution year after year is getting fit and losing weight...

But only 8 percent of people successfully achieve their resolution....

"Best way to get in and set a goal is to have straight course of action... fairly simply to follow."

Doug Grieshbar, a personal trainer at Best Fitness says to avoid the dreaded plateau, work out with a partner...  And do a mix of cardio and weight training.

"Bring a friend along is great way to stick with your goals..."

Carl Waterhouse avoided that plateau....  His resolution 2 years back was to lose 76 pounds for his daughter's wedding..... By working out with a personal trainer and journaling his progress he did just that.

"Been working with Doug now six times a month...1 hour sessions... and 1 long extra a week,"

Both Carl and Doug say most people give up their resolutions because they set unachievable goals....

"Setting small goals is a great way to start... Normally after about 2 or 3 months... set new goals..."

"Healthiness is working with other people and shifting to a plan."

Experts say another big part of fighting the fat is eating right and dieting.

Counting calories and using portion control may be difficult, but Waterhouse says it works.

"I used to eat off dinner plate... and now just solid plate... smaller portions... plus more vegetables and lean meal," says Waterhouse.

Fitness experts say it's important to work the entire body....including the upper body, core and legs...  And changing up your workout will keep things interesting....
