Jan 4, 2013 - He still has about a month to go as CEO of UPMC Hamot, but today, staff along with family and friends of John Malone gathered to wish him well.

Malone started his career at UPMC Hamot in 1975 as director of nutritional services.

He's been CEO at the hospital for the past 20 years.

As CEO, Malone has elevated UPMC Hamot to the status of a nationally recognized provider of superior health care.

Malone says he plans on spending more time with his family, including his grandson dean who was at his side.

Also retiring on February 1st is Donald Inderlied who has held the position of senior vice president of corporate services and chief compliance officer.
