Good Kid: Madison Swift 1/14/13

Juggling is something we become proficient at in adulthood as tasks pile up and responsibilities mount.

But one middle school girl is already up to the challenge.

Traci Teudhope introduces us to this week's Good Kid.

Meet Madison Swift, an 8th grade student at Roosevelt Middle School with the drive to succeed and a desire to help others along the way.

Jeff Hutchinson, Assistant Principal, said: "I think other students see her as a leader and see her as someone who represents the kind of students we have at Roosevelt, so I'm very happy for her."

Her volunteer work clearly helps others, but it's something she really appreciates too.

Madison: "It makes me feel great because I help them out and it makes it even easier for them."

When it comes to Maddie's achievements, there's a list a mile long.

Jeff Hutchinson: "What makes a kid like Maddie great is not only academics but realizing the importance of extra curricular activities such as community service, and the importance of being a well rounded kid. And that's what I really like about her and why she's so special."

And Maddie, quite mature for her age, is already looking ahead to her future. Knowing all this activity will help her continue to succeed.

Madison: "It's important for me because I can put it on my application for collegiate, college, and stuff, and like jobs."
