JANUARY 16, 2013-  Erie City Council heard the first reading for a program that is said to make buildings safer and landlords more accountable...

If the council passes this, it would extend the rental inspection program through March 31, 2017...

With this program, landlords will have to register properly for forty dollars every year.

Council President Jim Winarski says this is necessary and the program was created to combat the slum landlord problems here in ErieCounty.

Erie City Council meets again in 3 weeks..

The program expires on March 31st and council must vote before that....

Again, if it gets final approval, it would be extended into 2017.
