Catholic leaders across the nation are speaking out against the compromise offered by the Obama administration for healthcare coverage of contraceptives for employees of faith-based institutions.
That includes Erie bishop Lawrence Persico.
He responded to the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking saying it does show some movement by the administration, but falls short of addressing wide-ranging concerns.
He released a statement about the notice of proposed rulemaking last night saying quote.

"The governments definition of religious employer is extremely narrow in that it defines freedom of religion as little more than freedom of worship.
Houses of worship are exempt- but religious organizations such as catholic charities, hospitals and colleges are not"

Well, if the Catholic Church doesn't want birth control...then THEY can pay for all of the Children that will come from NO birth control...Fair's, fair!! Bishop Persico has NO idea how much it costs Parent's to raise Children, and birth control SHOULD be up to the Parent's, not a church to decide!!
