Investigators say a kitchen fire started in a top floor apartment on the six hundred block of E. 8th Street.
Fire officials said a 14 year old girl had been living in the apartment, but investigators are trying to figure out why she was living there by herself.
The Red Cross came to help out the girl and the other downstairs tenants whose apartments were damaged  by water and smoke.
