On the shores of Presque Isle is a lighthouse we've all seen, but few of us have been inside.

Currently, one of the assistant park managers is living in the lighthouse, and that's how it is currently run.

It's a private residence, but historical grounds.

The lighthouse will be open to the public twice in March. The first is for preschoolers. They'll do arts and crafts, and tour the oil room where lighthouse keepers kept the desk and the night supply of oil.

The second date is March 9th and is open to everyone.

People will get a tour of the grounds but also come inside and climb the 78 iron and see the top of the lighthouse and the breathtaking view.

Registration is required for both events.

To register for the program please visit www.trecpi.org. or contact the park office at 814-833-7424.

Comments

Please call the Tom Ridge Environmental Center (TREC) at (814) 833-7424 to reserve your tour.
