A 911 call has been released detailing the shocking conversation between a retirement home worker at Glenwood Gardens in California and a 911 operator.

During the course of the phone call, the worker repeatedly refuses to give CPR to an 87 year old resident. The operator pleads with the worker to give the woman CPR or to find someone who can, but the worker cites that a company policy prohibits her to give the woman CPR, or to find someone who can.

The woman died.

It's causing quite a bit of controversy across the country. Representatives from Pleasant Ridge Manor and Springhill Retirement Home say something like that would never happen here in Erie.

"Unless that person has a "do not resuscitate" order, then our nursing staff will begin CPR on them," executive director of Pleasant Ridge Manor, Bob Smith, said.

"Everyone of our staff members is certified in CPR, and they fully expect that if they come upon an emergency medical circumstance, they're going to  intervene with life saving measure," executive director of Springhill Retirement Home, Jim Schneider, said.
