The pedestrian walkway along side the Smock Highway Bridge in Meadville has been closed.

The handrail at the edge of the walkway has deteriorated, making the sidewalk unsafe.
The Smock Highway Bridge carries traffic on Route 322 over railroad tracks near the Park Avenue Plaza.

PennDot says repair work on the walkway and handrail will begin as soon as possible.
