Pope Francis has local members of the Hispanic Catholic community ready to see change.
Erie has about 300 families who represent the Latino Catholic population. FR Matias Rosado Sosa of St. Stephen Parish is the pastor to the Latino community in Erie. He says his church is excited to have a pope who speaks their language and embodies humility.
FR Matias says he hopes that the pope being from Argentina will change the standard of how a pope interacts with members of the church. He says Pope Francis has a friendly way about him and isn't shy about greeting people he meets.
He also says that after mass, he mentioned Pope Francis and there was applause.
David Gonzalez from St. Martin Center says there is a large catholic Hispanic community here in Erie and he thinks that people will closely follow the pope's official installation on Tuesday.
