GE Plant In Texas Has Some People Concerned

Are you concerned to learn that the General Electric plant in Fort Worth, Texas will be producing locomotives early next year?
The Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership is not surprised.
Since news broke of the Fort Worth plant opening, local experts knew this was eventually going to happen.
On Friday a Texas newspaper reported that the plant hopes to produce locomotives by January and will be hiring 300 people by the end of December. The Fort Worth plant already employs 100 people.
But as far as concern goes that jobs are in jeopardy in Erie, experts don't seem too concerned.
Barbara Chaffee, President and CEO of the chamber, says the key is to make sure the Erie plant stays the most productive plant.
All this comes on the heels of the decision earlier this year to move their global headquarters from Erie to Chicago, taking with it 50 employees.
