In Pittsburgh, a two year old died after he fell 14 feet into the African painted dog exhibit and was then attacked.

Right here in Erie, Scott Mitchell says safety is a big priority at the Erie zoo.

This was the first visitor death in the Pittsburgh zoo's more than 100 year history.

Fortunately Erie has never had a tragic accident like the most recent one in Pennsylvania.

CEO and President of the Erie Zoo, Scott Mitchell says that the zoo follows national safety guidelines.

Those guidelines help keep visitors and animals safe.

The Erie Zoo has taken precautions when it comes to visitors being kept at a safe distance from the animals.

Railings outside of the exhibits were made to prevent parents from lifting children to stand on them.

Erie does have African dogs at the zoo. The balcony that over looks that exhibit has been closed off until Mitchell receives more on national guidelines in connection to the tragedy.

The tragedy at the Pittsburgh Zoo, was the fault of a Mother who has NO common sense, I would NEVER, EVER, put a Child upon a railing of ANY kind to "see" better!!! The fact is...if you go anywhere with a Child or Children, you do NOT put them in any kind of danger...and just because THIS Mother doesn't have enough common sense to know that is NOT the wrong doing of the Pittsburgh Zoo, they AND our own Erie Zoo, and the Cleveland Zoo, have ALWAYS shown exemplary actions thru out all of their Zoo's for keeping people safe, until you have a person who doesn't use common sense and almost thrusts their child into a terrible situation, that causes pain and or death!! Now, they will try to sue the Zoo for what the Mother DID!!! Sorry for their loss...but it WAS their fault in the first place, and I would never want to see any Child or Adult go thru that!!! I'm just so hoping that that baby felt nothing and died instantly...so sad!!!
