November 9, 2012 - The Millcreek Police Department's special investigation unit has been a success since it was started on June 25.

Several alleged criminals have been charged and many illegal firearms have been taken off the streets.

Between June 25 and November 8, 53 people were arrested by the three man special investigation unit.

Eighteen of those 53 were charged with felonies and 35 were charged with misdemeanors.

More than 20 stolen or illegally possessed firearms and approximately $20,000 in drug related currency.

The unit started after a noticeable increase in drug activity in Millcreek.

Chief Tom Carlotti says drug related incidents are a direct result of other crimes.

Chief Carlotti says the biggest problem drug in the township is heroin.
