A 12 year old Millcreek girl has a lot to be thankful for this holiday season.
Maddie Petersen has suffered epileptic seizures since she was 2 months old and medications were not working,

That's when Maddy's family decided on brain surgery to hopefully cure their daughter's seizures.
At one point, Maddy was experiencing 30 seizures a day, and unfortunately medications were not helping.

Because epilepsy is a fairly common neurological disorder, most people do not know that epilepsy surgery is even an option, or may think it sounds to extreme to try. However,  in reality, for may patients the surgery can eliminate their seizures and the need for seizures medications and help them leave a healthy life.

Maddy had the surgery this past July at the Cleveland Clinic and has not had a seizure since. She is now able to enjoy all the things she missed the first 11 years of her life like roller skating and swimming and sleepovers.
