The food is just about cooked and family and friends from across the country are gathering together under one roof. For many, the holiday season is a once-a-year opportunity to get the whole family together. It's also the perfect time to check in on aging parents and relatives to see how they are doing living by themselves.
This holiday season, AARP is encouraging family members to look for the simple signs that older loved ones may need more assistance, such as in-home care or a move to a long-term care facility. AARP's new Caregiving Resource Center offers tips and tools for families to begin having honest conversations about long-term care options for their aging relatives. AARP outlines tips and questions to simplify observing how Mom, Dad and other relatives are doing with everything from mobility to health and finances.
