JANUARY 4, 2013- The first day of ski club season is in full swing at Peek 'n Peak...

More than 1200 students of all ages from the tri-state area braved the chilly temps for the first day of ski club season.... Peek officials say the number grows each year and these next 8 weeks are hectic, but well worth it...

"It's been a great couple of weeks and we're in fun business and when people are having fun can hear having fun... really great," says Brad Gravink Peek 'n Peak Director of Mountain Operations.

Students tell us the first day of ski club season is comparable to that of Christmas morning... and the excitement brings them back each year.

"Come back every year because really fun and learn steps and skills," says Diana Ludwig of Fredonia Middle School.

Ski club members and staffers from Peek 'n Peak say this year is better than ever before because we finally have snow.

"Last year we had about 2 inches of actual snow as of this date last year and now we're well past 25-30 inches," says Nick Scott Jr. of Scott Enterprises.

"This year we started off great and I think it's great beginning to season and everyone is really excited," says Deja Holland of CollegiateAcademy.

Nick Scott Jr. says this year at the Peek is much improved and seeing the public enjoy his hard work is fulfilling...

"And all these kids hanging out... great time and this year the snow... and enjoying every part of it."

Tomorrow the bag jump which is like large pillow that you can land on when attempting tricks will open....

And the king of the mountain ski/snowboard competition kicks off at 1 p.m.
