Altland Found Guilty of Voluntary Manslaughter

January 17, 2013-Ulysses Altland is guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Brent Washington  during a fight in an Erie tavern last March.

The jury delivered its verdict to Judge John Garhart today just after 1 PM. Deliberations began Wednesday.

the 23 year old Altland also was convicted of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment, plus two weapons charges The prosecution wanted a conviction for first-degree murder, or a premeditated killing, which carries an automatic life sentence with no parole.

Altland did not testify in his own defense.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 12.
