If you fall through the ice while fishing, skating, or strolling on frozen lakes or ponds, would you know how to get out?  If not, there will be a demonstration put on by volunteers and members of the Erie County Sheriff's Dept Scuba Team & Erie Skin Divers Club, this Sunday January 27 at 11 am at Dobbins Landing.

Divers will give a brief talk on ice safety and will then demonstrate methods of SELF RESCUE as well as how you can SAFELY assist someone else who may have fallen through the ice.

This demonstration benefits all sports enthusiasts who find  themselves around the ice this time of year.
It is not demonstrating professional rescue methods but instead shows the ice fisherman or nature lover what they can do to be safe on the ice.

How to "climb out" if you fall thru, how spikes on a rope can save your life, how a simple gallon jug with a line attached makes a great throwing device, and how to use those ice crosses you see along the waterfront will be covered.
