A Harborcreek man accused of shooting his friend enters a plea deal today in court...
19 year old John Schlick faces a maximum sentence of seven years behind bars... This after a plea deal between DA Jack Daneri and Schlick's lawyer Garrett Taylor dropped the aggravated assault charge.
Back in September...
19 year old Schlick fatally shot his friend ...
19 year old Marshal Curl at Schlick's home on
According to State Police.. Schlick and his friends were in his basement... When Schlick fired one shot at Curl.. Who we're told was sitting on the couch.
Curl's death was ruled a homicide... An autopsy showing curl died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Police say.. The gun which was used to kill curl... Belonged to Schlick's father, but was given to Schlick a few weeks before the shooting.
Up until today... Schlick was charged with aggravated assault... Recklessly endangering another person and involuntary manslaughter...
But in court this afternoon... Schlick only faces two charges... Involuntary manslaughter and recklessly endangering another person... Which could put him behind bars for a maximum of seven years ... Schlick also faces a $15,000 fine along with that sentence.
The plea agreement dropped a felony charge of aggravated assault... Which Daneri says calls for a maximum of 20 years in jail.
Before the shooting occured... We're told that Schlick had been drinking...
He'll be sentenced on March 21
