Work continues on the installation of a sprinkler system at Pleasant Ridge Manor West with the 1.2  million dollar project expected to conclude by June of this year.

Pleasant Ridge Executive Director Robert Smith says the Federal Center for Medicare and Medicaid announced that they are considering a waiver for the sprinkler system mandate.

Under the proposal, extensions would be permitted for up to 2 years.
That's great news for Smith who said that he won't have to spend the money installing sprinklers at Pleasant Ridge Manor East because the facility will not be a part of Pleasant Ridge.

Smith says the Eastside building is in the process of being sold and will not be used as a nursing home so not having to install a sprinkler system is a big money saver.

ALL of these kinds of places SHOULD have to have some sprinkler systems in place, either inside the walls and ceilings, or outside of them...I hope to Heaven that they never have a fire there, it could end up being devastating results!
