Fatal Crash Near Townville

March 1, 2013- State Police and the Crawford County Coroner are investigating a fatal crash on Route 408 near Townville.

The accident happened just before ten this morning. A minivan and a tractor trailer collided on the icy highway

Police say the Dodge minivan driven by 43 year old Susan Martin went out of control and was struck by the tractor trailer. Martin, and her son 3 year old Melvin Martin were both killed on impact, according to Crawford County Coroner Scott Schell.

The driver of the tractor trailer, 47 year old Robert Baughman of Townville was not injured.

Volunteer firemen and fire police from Townville directed traffic in the area near Route 408 and Carpenter Road. The accident scene was cleared just about 1:30 this afternoon.

Comments

Randolph Volunteer Fire department did traffic control until 5:40 pm. Townville Volunteer Fire department then took over from there for traffic control.

That car was only a frame, minivan vs 18 wheeler is death trap. NEED INVESTIGATION.
