A young child was transported to UPMC Hamot for leg injuries after being hit by a Rent-a-Center van on the 1000 block of East 10th St around 10am.

The driver, 28 year old Salvan Bonaminio says the child ran across the street seemingly out of nowhere. He says he tried to avoid the child at all costs, but could not. He says he did not hit the child with full impact.

Several 911 calls were made. Police say the child was conscious, with injuries to the leg after the incident.
