Fight for Funding Brings Federal Official to Barber National Institute

Students, faculty and staff of the Barber National Institute gave a warm welcome to to the Deputy Secretary of the Office of Developmental Programs.

Secretary Fred Lokuta spent the day at the institute meeting with administrators and parents to talk about services for individuals with developmental disabilities.

The county designation change from urban to rural will negatively affect funding for the institute, but Lokuta says he will continue to fight for funding.

It was Lokuta's first visit to the Barber National Institute.
