This week's Golden Apple Award winner was referred to by one of her students as "the best teacher ever!"
As David Belmondo reports, Patricia Crotty has a way with her students that makes learning something they look forward to.
Patricia Crotty, Edison Elementary teacher, says: "I don't feel like I do anything extra special."
But the room full of 4th grade students you teach at Edison Elementary School think you do, especially Olivia Lehman who nominated Mrs. Crotty at this week's Jet 24, Edinboro University, Golden Apple Award winner.
Olivia Lehman, nominated Mrs. Crotty for Golden Apple Award, says: "She always helps out. She never yells. I like that."
Mrs. Crotty has been a teacher for 17 years.
Her students come from not only Erie but from around the world.
Mrs. Crotty, "I think Edison is awesome because we have such a diverse population. You get to know so many kids from different cultures."
But that can also be a challenge.
Mary Jo Melvin, PhD, Edinboro University, says: "It's not easy for a teacher to teach a diverse group of students. You have to meet their needs, you have to respect their cultures and this teacher has done that."
And in a way her students will never forget.
David Belmondo, yourerie.com, says: "So for the teacher that some call the "best teacher ever," congratulations Mrs. Crotty for being selected this week's Jet 24, Edinboro University, Golden Apple Award winner.
