breaking news
Another Erie manufacturing company announced Wednesday it will be laying off 1/3 of its employees after the first of the year. Bush Industries, the maker of parts for office furniture, is consolidating and moving its manufacturing department out of town to its headquarters in Jamestown. Some employees say some of the work is headed overseas to China, too. In all, about 90 jobs will be cut from the company. The changes are expected to take place beginning in February. According to employees, the distribution and logistics operations will remain in Erie. Bush Industries filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in 2004, but for the Erie Regional Chamber & Growth Partnership, Wednesday`s news came as a surprise.
