Evacuations in Union City
An overturned propane tanker truck on Route 8 caused evacuations in parts of Union City. The truck which was carrying 10,000 pounds of gas rolled onto its side near the Snap-Tite Plant and Union City Elementary School. There was some concern that if propane leaked, it could be ignited by power lines that were taken down in the accident. As a precaution, Union City schools were closed... So was Snap-Tite and other surrounding businesses.
